How We Got Started
After taking a trip to Kenya and Ghana in August 2023, I started Good4Africa because I was touched and moved by how grateful the students were for a single soccer ball. I couldn't even wrap my mind around the idea that this is something they don't have. As a student, I became increasingly aware of how often education about Africa is shaped by distance, stereotypes, or statistics rather than real relationships. I realized that while students across continents share similar hopes, challenges, and ambitions, they rarely have opportunities to learn with one another. And we have so much we learn from one another.
Good4Africa began as a way to build those connections through education. I believed that supporting schools could do more than improve learning environments—it could create meaningful, student-to-student relationships rooted in empathy, curiosity, and mutual respect.
By partnering directly with schools and local organizations in Uganda, Ghana, and Kenya, the goal was never just to donate supplies, but to collaborate, listen, and grow together.
Seeing the tangible impact of these partnerships reinforced why Good4Africa exists. Helping provide school supplies to hundreds of students, supporting digital learning with computers and projectors, expanding sports and play programs, and contributing to sustainable initiatives like school gardens and rabbit care programs showed how education, health, and responsibility are deeply connected. These projects not only strengthen schools but also create opportunities for shared learning and cultural exchange.
At its core, Good4Africa is about building understanding. When students learn about one another through real partnerships, awareness becomes personal and lasting. I started Good4Africa to help create a world where students are connected across borders—not through assumptions, but through collaboration, shared goals, and mutual respect.
